STONE HARBOR – The first meeting of Stone Harbor’s Master Plan Reexamination Committee took place in August 2017. After 20 months of work, the plan is scheduled to be released to the public June 1. The borough’s Planning Board is expected to approve the draft for public release during its May meeting.
The master plan reexamination is a process that must be completed on a 10-year cycle, according to state regulations. The master plan deals with a number of required elements ranging from the borough’s land-use plan to its housing element. The plan also deals with a community’s short- and long-range goals, covering a diversity of topics from green initiatives to flood mitigation, or from recycling to water reclamation.
A planning board schedule presented by Mayor Judith Davies-Dunhour at the May 7 Stone Harbor Borough Council meeting called a first public hearing June 10 and another potential meeting June 24. The planning board could adopt the plan June 24.
