NORTH WILDWOOD — First Ward Councilman Robert Maschio will seek re-election to his council seat in the November, 2010 election. Maschio, a republican, will run as an independent candidate in the upcoming election. A petition containing more than twice the number of signatures required by law was submitted Tuesday, June 8th to the North Wildwood City Clerk’s Office.
“I received an overwhelming amount of encouragement to run for re-election from residents in Ward One immediately after announcing my decision to step aside from public service”, Maschio said. “They are concerned about the future of the city, and the candidate whom my party selected to run in my place. After weeks of careful consideration and encouragement from the community, I decided to run for re-election as an independent Republican”.
Maschio has served on the North Wildwood City Council since 2006. He has served on the city’s finance and committee during his tenure on council, and he is currently the chairman of the administration committee. He lives on West Spruce Avenue in North Wildwood with his wife Kim and four children. Maschio volunteers as a youth sports coach, he is a board member with the “New Jersey Broadcasters Association”, and is active in many other local organizations donating his time and resources. He has previously served as a member of the North Wildwood Board of Education.
“North Wildwood is a great community to serve the public”, Maschio said. “We need good government to continue in North Wildwood as we continue to face many challenges related to the economy. It is in the city’s best interests to continue with experienced leadership who understands these challenges, and takes a proactive approach to solutions, and long-term planning”.
