SEA ISLE CITY – During public comment at Sea Isle City’s Council meeting April 23, a group of three individuals indicated they were speaking for boat owners who rent boat slips from the city.
“The marina and slips are reasonably well maintained, and we do our part in cleaning up and not getting upset with tourists stealing our nets and buckets. However, the city collects a fee from us for the slip and this has always included parking.
“This year, after signing the contract, we were back doored and learned that no parking spot would be included. This is really underhanded and baloney, and we will keep coming to the city to fix the problem until it’s resolved,” said one of the slip users.
Council member Mary Tighe said, “Before there were no parking meters in this area and once done, it’s hard to take away a benefit we’ve given.” Council President Jack Gibson summed up the situation by pledging “effective and prompt resolution.”
