Marina OK’d for Commercial Fishing Loan

CREST HAVEN – A $300,000 commercial fishing revolving loan was approved by freeholders June 26 for Cecil Creek Properties LLC, d/b/a/ South Dock Marina, 231 W. 10th Ave., North Wildwood. 
According to the resolution that approved the loan, the proceeds will be used to refurbish a bulkhead and purchase recreational watercraft for use at the marina. The loan is for seven years at 2 percent interest.
In other actions the board:
* Congratulated Dr. Matthew Jamison on being named the 2018 Visionary Leadership Award and the 2018 N.J. Principal of the Year for the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
He has received a $7,000 grant that will be dedicated to the technology infrastructure of Ocean City High School’s newly-developed Holocaust/Genocide Studies. The money will be used to buy Chromebooks to permit students to interact with source documents and online resources for the curriculum.
* Approved a shared-services agreement with South Jersey Economic Development District for planning and grant application for the Airport Tech Village redevelopment building project. Contract is $3,000.
* Authorized Triad Associates to prepare a grant application to U.S. Economic Development Administration for the Airport Tech Village. The application fee is $22,500 for USEDA matching grant funding; and for post-approval grant agreement review services, not to exceed $5,000, payable at an hourly rate of $155 as needed.
* Named members to the Cumberland/Salem/Cape May Workforce Development Board, all three-year terms begin July 1: Andrew Bulakowski, Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters, Donna Groome, director, county Human Services, and Denis Beckson, Morey’s Pier and Beachfront Water Parks.
* Approved a change order for $57,443 to the Ambient Group LLC of Sewell for Everlon Building demolition and site remediation. The reason, more asbestos was found as were “recently discovered” concrete septic tanks.
* Approved contracts for emergency repairs to 96th Street Bridge (CR657) where floor beams were severely corroded and began to fail. Contracts to Michael Baker International Inc., South State Inc. of Bridgeton, and Remington and Vernick Engineers of Cherry Hill. Work was done mostly at night, and the weight limit was reduced to 15 tons.
