COURT HOUSE – The New Jersey Supreme Court recently appointed Cape May County Surrogate Dean Marcolongo to serve on the Judiciary-Surrogate Liaison Committee.
According to a release, Marcolongo was recommended for service on the committee by Surrogate Michelle Gentek-Mayer, chief of the Surrogates Section of the Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey. His three-year term will be effective immediately, ending Dec. 31, 2021.
The Supreme Court created the Judiciary-Surrogates Liaison Committee in 1983 to provide a forum for the discussion of concerns affecting the Judiciary and Surrogates.
The Liaison Committee plays a role in addressing areas of mutual concern and pursuing collaborative approaches to resolving issues and developing standardized practices and procedures as part of the goal of providing quality services to the people of New Jersey.
Over the years, the Liaison Committee had addressed many important subjects, including enhancing the role of the Surrogates, guardianship practices and improving the Surrogates Intermingled Trust Fund.
“It is an honor to be recommended and appointed to this position, I look forward to serving on this Committee,” stated Marcolongo.
Marcolongo was elected and sworn as Cape May County Surrogate in 2017. He is a lifelong resident of Cape May County. He is a graduate of Richard Stockton College and from Vermont Law School. Marcolongo is an active member of The Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey (COANJ) and serves as Treasurer of the organization. He also serves as Deputy Section Chief for the Surrogates.
