COURT HOUSE — On June 13, 2014 Lieutenant William Adams graduated the 255th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Lieutenant Adams is one of three National Academy graduates at Middle Township Police Department. Chief Christopher Leusner attended in 2008 and Captain John Edwards in 2011.
The FBI National Academy is a ten week training program for senior law enforcement officials. Participation in the Academy is by invitation through a nomination process. Less than 1% of law enforcement officers in the country get the opportunity to attend the National Academy. The training is broad based focusing on behavioral science, leadership development, and focuses on the best practices for law enforcement agencies. Lieutenant Adams will now become an active member of the FBI National Academy Associates NJ Chapter, where Chief Leusner serves as New Jersey State President. Chief Leusner stated, “I am very proud of Lieutenant Adams and his hard work. The network available to Lieutenant Adams and all FBI National Academy graduates is the best in the world. He will have opportunities for continuing education and training that is some of the best in the law enforcement community as a member in our Association.”
Mayor Timothy Donohue stated, “On behalf of the people of Middle Township, I would like to congratulate Lieutenant Adams and thank him and his family for the time and sacrifice required to attend and graduate from the FBI National Academy. This academy is the gold standard for professional achievement for a municipal law enforcement officer, not just in the United States, but worldwide. The fact that the MTPD now has three FBI Academy graduates on our administrative team is proof of our department’s ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation, especially when it comes to the safety of our residents.”
Lieutenant Adams has been with the Middle Township Police Department for fifteen years and had previously worked for two and a half years with the Delaware River and Bay Authority. Lt. Adams currently is the commander of the Patrol Division for the department. Lt. Adams is also the Accreditation Manager for the department and is a former Field Training Officer, member of the SWAT Team and a Drug Recognition Expert. Lt. Adams is a life-long resident of Middle Township and is a graduate of the Middle Township High School. Lt. Adams also graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Pre-Law.
