NORTH CAPE MAY – Lower Township is seeking approval from the New Jersey Department of Environment Protection under the Coastal Area Facility Review Act for improvements to the beach access on Lincoln Boulevard.
According to a release, the township is seeking to have a bike rack, temporary bathrooms and a foot-rinse station at the street end of Lincoln Boulevard.
Lower Township Manager James Ridgway stated the improvements would be “a vast improvement over what was used previously.”
Lincoln Boulevard dead-ends at Delaware Bay and is a popular location for residents and visitors to visit or walk along Beach Drive.
The location has a few public parking spots, picnic tables, and trash cans. In past years, there was a single portable toilet at the street end and one small bike rack that quickly filled to capacity.
Ridgway noted that the township wasn’t interested in permanent structures but wanted to improve the beach access with small, but impactful, upgrades.
