LOWER TOWNSHIP – Lower Township Police Chief Edward Donohue has announced that the Police Department has received a grant from the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice Body Armor Replacement Fund in the amount of $1,598.00.
The grant money is utilized to replace bullet proof vests or body armor for Patrol Officers.
Donohue stated the Lower Township Police Department requires all uniformed patrol officers to wear body armor while on duty.
The New Jersey DCJ has reported that this year’s program revenue was significantly lower as a result of the states severe budget crisis.
The grant funds must be used exclusively for the purchase of life saving body armor vests which must be replaced every five (5) years.
