LOWER TOWNSHIP — Lower Township Police Department’s “No-Shave April” will run the entire month of April and is all for the benefit of the 2018 Police Youth Camp, which will be held from July 30, through Aug. 3, 2018. The goal of this event is to raise awareness of the new Youth Camp, that began last year, which is geared toward middle and high school students. Additionally, the campaign will raise funds for camp activities.
The camp is designed to foster positive and healthy interaction between police officers and youth. The students attending this camp will focus on building self-esteem, teamwork, good decision-making, communication skills and educational lessons focused on life skills. The camp is sponsored by the Lower Township Police Department, as well as Lower Township Council.
The camp will consist of various police-type activities including:
• Field trip to the Police Academy to use the police simulator training
• Field trip to Escape Cape May
• SWAT and K9 demonstrations
• Physical fitness training
• Field Trip to use the County Ropes Course
• Crime scene investigation and a block of instruction on interactions with police.
So, please don’t be shocked when you see one of your local officers sporting a beard, goatee or a longer than usual hair length, it’s all for a good cause! If anyone else would like to donate to this worthy cause, Lower Township Police will be collecting donations through April 30, 2018. All money collected will go directly to the Youth Camp. Checks can be made out to LTPD Local 59 Special Events. Donations can be dropped off or mailed to the Lower Township Police Department at 405 Breakwater Rd., Erma, NJ 08204.
The Lower Township Police Department appreciates the support of our community and looks forward to another fun and successful Police Youth Camp this summer.
