Lower Township Police Investigate a Possible Suicide

VILLAS – Wildwood Crest Police Department requested Lower Township’s assistance locating a 67-year-old, white male, believed to be suicidal March 21 at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Lower Township and Wildwood Crest Police Departments began searching for the male subject and his 2001, white, Toyota Tundra Pick Up Truck, with Pennsylvania registration.
After searching countless locations, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a local resident was walking her dog through the Tranquility area, than crossing the railroad tracks towards Mitnick School. She observed a white pickup truck on the Atlantic City Electric Service Road behind Mitnick School.
The pickup truck had its four way hazards flashing. Police were called and responded.
Upon police arrival, it was discovered this was the vehicle being sought. Officers approached the vehicle and discovered a 67-year-old, white male, deceased inside the vehicle. Also found inside the vehicle was a handgun.
This incident is still under investigation by Lower Township Police Department, Wildwood Crest Police Department, Cape May County Prosecutors Office and the Cape May County Medical Examiner’s Office.
