Lower Township Courts Held in Township Hall Starting May 17

VILLAS — Starting May 17, Lower Township Court will be operating out of the municipal building on 2600 Bayshore Road until renovations at the Township public safety building are complete.
The county and township have been working on an arrangement in which Cape May County will take ownership of the building and rehabilitate the public safety building in the airport complex. Once renovations are completed, the plan is for the county Office of Emergency Management will be relocated in one portion of the building. Lower Township will use the remaining space for the police department, fire safety office, and part of the township’s EMS services.
Prior to construction, courts will be moved to Lower Township Hall, located at 2600 Bayshore Road. Metal detectors and police officers will be present during court. Tuesdays will be court day and normal hours apply.
The township Bureau of Fire Safety will move into two offices and a conference room in the back of the township’s Recreation Center for the period of time it takes to reconstruct their section of the Public Safety Building. The police are going to move to south end of the Public Safety building while the north and a portion of the south is being renovated.
