VILLAS – Lower Township Council voted unanimously March 2 to change the scheduled start time of council meetings from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The change in time is an effort by council to make the twice-monthly meetings more convenient to residents who want to attend.
“Many residents have voiced their opinion that they’d like to be able to attend council meetings but the 6 p.m. start time frequently conflicted with work schedules. By changing the meetings to 7 p.m., more of our residents can attend and participate in council meetings,” said Councilman Dave Perry who brought the matter to council’s attention.
“To everyone who found it difficult to attend before, I hope the new time will allow you to come to the meetings now,” added Deputy Mayor Norris Clark. “Because this is your government and the people that show up and speak at the microphone get things done.”
Council meetings will be held the first and third Mondays of the month at 7 p.m. beginning March 16. The April 20 township budget hearing will remain scheduled for 6 p.m.
