Lower Settles with Remington and Vernick

By Sheryl McCabe

VILLAS — At the Lower Township Council meeting Mon., June 6, the council voted to drop lawsuits against Martinelli and Reminton and Vernick. After two years of deliberating, settlements were agreed upon for each.
Lower Township settled for $5,000 with former township-contracted Remington and Vernick. The engineers were originally contracted two years ago to work on the plan shared with the N.J. Council on Affordable Housing to construct Conifer Village a low-income apartment complex.
The N.J. Department of Environmental Protection fined the township initially $72,500 for failure to obtain proper permits to reconstruct the outfall pipes near the Delaware Bay.
Martinelli, the contractor for the outfall project, must pay $15,000 over a two-year period, starting with this year.
