Lower Residents Are Caring

By Press Release

VILLAS – Over the last few months, township officials asked for nonperishable food donations for the local Food Banks, and many responded. During these tough economic times, the food has helped many less fortunate. Township manager, Mike Voll asks that residents continue to drop off food donations at Township Hall 8:30 – 4:30 daily.
“We are now making a second request to help ‘Donate your Tabs Here’ at Township Hall. Shriners Hospitals for children in Springfield and Boston have been collecting pull-tabs or “pop-tops” from beverage cans for more than 16 years, recycling them, and putting the money toward programs that directly benefit children with serious medical challenges.
Since the inception, about a half-million pounds of aluminum tabs have been collected and recycled. Don’t toss them away… Tear them off and help kids,” he said.
There’s a container at Township Hall for these tabs and a blue barrel for food donations. “Helping others in time of need will surely give you a great feeling. We are blessed to have residents that are caring when asked to help,” he concluded.
