VILLAS – Lower Township Council recently approved a resolution to request $70,000 be transferred from the Lower Township MUA (municipal utilities authority) into the township’s general fund. This type of transfer from the MUA to the township has occurred a few times in the past, according to township Chief Finance Officer Lauren Read. By previous ordinance, the MUA is authorized to transfer up to $314,644 to the township this fiscal year. Read said that the funds will be used to help finance protective vests and other items for the police department.
