Lower Police Have a Busy Month of March

ERMA — The Lower Township Police Department responded to and/or investigated 2,789 incidents during the month of March.
Officers investigated 38 Domestic Violence complaints, 6 of which involved assaults while handling criminal complaints which included the following offenses:
• 18 Assaults
• 36 Motor Vehicle Accidents
• 22 Theft investigations
• 7 Burglaries
• 38 Criminal Mischief Complaints
• 58 Disorderly Conduct Complaints
Lower Township Officers responded to investigate 36 Motor Vehicle Accidents on Lower Township Roadways in March while conducting a total of 494 motor vehicle stops which resulted in 156 traffic summonses being issued along with 50 traffic warnings issued.
Officers also issued six Local Ordinance complaints along with one warning for Local Ordinance violations.
Total arrest made during the month include 52 adult arrests with twelve juveniles arrested. In addition, Lower Township Police Officers arrested a total of five drivers for DWI.
Officers assisted Lower Township Rescue Squad with over 124 Emergency Medical Calls and responded to a total of 45 Fire Alarm Call Outs with the townships three fire departments.
Patrol Officers responded to 38 commercial and residential alarms, while conducting 861 property checks and along with Animal Control Officers, responded to 44 animal complaints.
The department conducted five death investigations and arrested seven persons for Possession of Narcotics. Officers completed 105 Investigation Reports and 41 Supplemental Investigation Reports.
Some of the more serious incidents handled by the police department during the month of March included:
• Officers responded to over 15 weather related motor vehicle accidents during the March jst,2nd snow storm.
• Arrest made in $6,000 Jewelry Burglary.
• Police, Fire and Rescue respond td a plumber entrapped in equipment.
• Two juveniles arrested for starting a brush fire.
• Over One pound of Marijuana confiscated after drug investigation.
• Suspect arrested in Cape May National Golf Club Burglary.
• Investigation of Coyote Carcasses thrown in pond at Lepor’s Pit.
• Suspect extradited from Nevada after DNA Solves eight year old Sexual Assault Ca5e,
• Man claims to be a Pagan Motorcycle Gang Member, assaults and threatens to harm Lower Township Police Officers during a Disorderly Conduct arrest.
• Man arrested after brandishing two knives and threatening to kill Lower Township Police Officers. Suspect was subsequently pepper maced and arrested on numerous charges.
• Man arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest and Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer after officers responded to a Disorderly Conduct call.
• Man arrested for choking wife and Resisting Arrest after officers responded to a Domestic Violence call.
• Lower Township Officer injured while arresting suspect fr Violation of a Final Restraining Order. The officer suffered a sprained knee during the arrest.
