ERMA — On Saturday, Nov. 13, at approximately 10:15 p.m. the Lower Township Police Department received a report that a 13-year-old male juvenile had just been assaulted and robbed by a group of individuals near Iowa and States avenues, while riding his bike home from the Lower Township Recreation Center.
Police investigation on scene determined that the robbery victim was approached by a group of five individuals, at which point the 13 year old victim indicated that a black female struck him in the face with a closed fist then physically pulled him off of his bicycle before taking possession of his bicycle.
At that time the victim then stated that he was approached by a white male who also struck him in the face with a closed fist and demanded all of his money.
The 13-year-old then handed over two $10 bills to the male robbery suspect.
A description of the female and male robbery suspects was then broadcast to all Lower Township Police Units in the area. A short time later, patrol officers detained a male and female fitting the description of the actors, near Domino’s Pizza in the Villas Section of Lower Township.
After further investigation, Kailar Sotomayor, 19, of the 100 block of Iowa Avenue, Villas, New Jersey and a 16 year old male subject from the Burleigh Section of Middle Township, were arrested and charged with one count of robbery.
In addition, the 16 year old robbery suspect was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after which he was logged in the Juvenile Detention Center in Bridgeton.
Lower Township Patrol Officers also recovered the 13 year old’s stolen bicycle.
The 13 year old male victim sustained bruises and swelling to his face from the assault, but did not require hospitalization.
