A female resident at that location had just pulled into her driveway when she was approached by a man wearing a dark, skin tight mask, on his face who demanded that she give him her purse. The suspect grabbed the woman’s purse and was last seen running west across Route 9 into a wooded area.
Lower Township patrol officers immediately responded to the area to conduct a search and were assisted by members of the Middle Township Police Department and the Cape May County Sheriff’s Department K9 Unit.
Later that day, Lower Township Detectives received information that a black male in his early 20’s, attempted to cash a check belonging to the victim of the robbery, which had been made out for $2500.
Bank tellers refused to cash the check because the subject did not have proper identification.

Working with bank officials, detectives reviewed security video of the suspect which subsequently led to the suspect being identified.
