Lower Appoints Interim Engineer

VILLAS – At its March 17 meeting, Lower Township Council appointed Engineering Design Associates of Ocean View as acting municipal engineer.
According to Manager Michael Voll, the township’s full-time engineer George Curvan had resigned several weeks ago. By law, a municipality must have an engineer of record, he stated. Vincent Orlando’s firm will serve until a replacement is found. The resolution noted the appointment was made without public bidding. The resolution sets a $5,000 limit on the amount the firm may be paid.
Voll told the Herald he is receiving resumes from engineering firms to secure a permanent municipal engineer.
