Lockwood Replaces McMahon; Change Order OK’d for Jail

CREST HAVEN – Listed under “New Hires and Replacements” on the freeholders’ Nov. 27 salary resolution was Daniel Lockwood, department head of Facilities and Services, to replace AnnMarie McMahon. His salary effective Nov. 26 was listed at $70,000.
The department has responsibility for maintenance of all county buildings. Lockwood is a former Middle Township mayor and committee member.
In other personnel matters, freeholders appointed Nancy Ramundo to the Board of Education of the Special Services District and the Vocational School District of the county. Her term will expire June 30, 2019.
A resolution was approved for a change order (Number 11) in the amount of $327,813 for the Cape May County Correctional Center for Hall Construction Co., Inc. Listed in its statement was that it is for “additional items of construction for the project in order to complete the work of the project in a satisfactory manner.”
In other actions the board:
* Approved name change to Cape May County Women’s Commission of the former Cape May County Women’s Advisory Commission.
* Approved an addendum to the Shared Services Agreement with the county and Cumberland Improvement Authority for the project that will convert the former Kmart at 1127 Route 47 South, Rio Grande for Social Services and a Veterans Administration Community-based Outpatient Clinic for veterans.
* Retained Jones Day for specialized legal services dealing with unmanned aerial systems (drones) and associated industries “as an economic driver to bring innovators and companies into the county,” according to the resolution.
His expertise is needed dealing with the Federal Aviation Administration.
* Approved modification to the Pittsburgh Avenue/Texas Avenue speed limit to 30 mph in Cape May from Washington Street to Beach Avenue.
* An $83,554 change order was approved for The Ambient Group LLC of Sewell in connection with the demolition and site remediation of the former Everlon Building at the county airport in Erma.
* Accepted a $21,000 grant from the state Division of Travel and Tourism, with a $5,250 cash match from the county and in-kind match of $14,750 to promote tourism between Sept. 30, 2018 and Dec. 31, 2019.
* Awarded a contract for two para-transit mini-buses at $63,287 each to Rohrer Bus Sales of Duncannon, Pa. for the Department of Fare-Free Transportation.
* Authorized a shared-services agreement with Middle Township for use of the Martin Luther King Center as a mass care shelter in the event of a mandatory evacuation.
* Approved a labor contract with the Sheriff’s Department and Sheriff’s Department Offices and Sergeants and Police Benevolent Association Local 59 from Jan. 1, 2018 to Dec. 31, 2021.
* Awarded a “not-to-exceed” $148,265 contract to Wayne Allen Neville, AIA for project management of Superior Court completion, 1127 Route 47 buildout, and as-needed projects.
