MIDDLE TOWNSHIP — Middle Township resident Elizabeth Terenik was selected by Township Committee to fill the vacant Business Administrator post. Currently the Director of Planning and Development for the City of Atlantic City, Terenik previously served as a planner to Middle Township in addition to a host of other municipalities in both Cape May and Atlantic counties.
“Terenik is credited with helping to change Atlantic City government. She was instrumental in making the city more business friendly, leading her department to complete over $20 million of infrastructure improvements including park and playground enhancements. She was also instrumental in public outreach campaigns to help keep officials informed on pressing concerns. I look forward to having her ambition and talents working for our community,” said Mayor Michael Clark.
Deputy Mayor Jeff DeVico voiced his support for Terenik assuming the position. DeVico said, “besides having the necessary management skills, Terenik’s planning expertise brings another dimension to the position that will be very beneficial to the Township. She has a unique understanding of our Township, its needs as well as its potential”.
Committeeman Tim Donohue provided the unanimous vote for Terenik. “Elizabeth had done great work for the Township as a professional planner. She is a positive and creative leader with great vision and the skill and experience to make that vision a reality. I look forward to partnering with her and my colleagues to get back to full speed ahead towards positive change for our town,” Donohue said.
Terenik has a master’s degree in Public Administration from California State University, and her bachelor’s degree from Villanova University. She is a licensed professional land use planner in the State of New Jersey, bringing extensive development experience to the City. She was previously the Planning and Engineering Director for Ocean City and has served as a planning consultant for several Cape May municipalities.
Terenik contract will be voted on at Monday’s Township Committee meeting and she will assume the Administrator’s position on May 1, 2017.
