WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Frank A. LoBiondo (R-2nd) was honored by the Humane Society of the United States for his continued support of legislation to protect animals from suffering and abuse throughout 2008.
According to a release, LoBiondo received the “Legislative Leader Award” for his leadership on legislation and for receiving a perfect score on the Humane Scorecard (www.fund.org/humanescorecard ). The award was presented to LoBiondo at an evening ceremony at the Capitol earlier this week.
“As a true lover of animals and owner of two rescued Weimaraners, I am honored to receive this award from the Humane Society of the United States. Their tireless efforts and advocacy on behalf of animals has served as a model for me, and I will continue to work with the Humane Society on issues important to their members,” said LoBiondo.
The Humane Society of the United States, the nation’s largest animal protection organization with more than 11 million supporters nationwide. For more than a half-century, The Humane Society of the United States has been fighting for the protection of all animals through advocacy, education, and hands-on programs.
