WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Frank A. LoBiondo (NJ-02) on March 24, 2017 issued the following statement after the vote on the American Health Care Act was canceled:
“I planned to vote NO today on this specific Obamacare replacement bill, but it is not a declaration that Obamacare should stay. It shouldn’t. Obamacare has failed on a host of key metrics promised to South Jersey residents and I remain committed to repeal. But we cannot rush the replacement without regard for the real life implications of the policy. We also cannot craft a healthcare policy without the input of our constituents, our medical professionals – our hospitals, doctors, nurses – and organizations like AARP who speak on behalf of groups most impacted by any proposed change.
“We need to repeal and replace Obamacare, but we also must meet the standards of what was promised: ‘as good or better than what we currently have.’ I look forward to working with my colleagues on finding the right compromise that is also the right policy for South Jersey and the country.”
