LoBiondo Requests Pay Suspension During Government Shutdown

U.S. Representatives and Senators are entitled to paychecks during the shutdown but Congressman Frank LoBiondo has stated that he will not accept his pay. LoBiondo sent out a tweet on Monday afternoon, asking for his pay to be suspended should the government shut down occur, with a picture of the request letter to Congress attached.
The tweet on LoBiondo’s Twitter page states:
“As US Constitution prohibits immediate changes in Members’ pay, I’ve requested my pay suspended if #shutdown occurs”

LoBiondo will furlough staff in both his Mays Landing and Washington offices and a message will be placed on his website along with a Q&A section for constituents with questions throughout the shutdown.
