U.S. Representatives and Senators are entitled to paychecks during the shutdown but Congressman Frank LoBiondo has stated that he will not accept his pay. LoBiondo sent out a tweet on Monday afternoon, asking for his pay to be suspended should the government shut down occur, with a picture of the request letter to Congress attached.
The tweet on LoBiondo’s Twitter page states:
“As US Constitution prohibits immediate changes in Members’ pay, I’ve requested my pay suspended if #shutdown occurs”
