Lobiondo Announces More Than $2.4 Million to South Jersey Airports

MAYS LANDING — U.S. Congressman Frank A. LoBiondo (NJ-02), Chairman of the House Aviation Subcommittee, on Aug. 12 announced two separate grants from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), including $2,341,458 to the Delaware River & Bay Authority for the Millville municipal airport. The funding will go towards the rehabilitation of two runways, completing the final phase of the project. An additional $57,000 was awarded to the Woodbine Port Authority for its local airport to finalize the design project for the runway.
“With more than $100 million invested at various facilities over the past decade, we have made substantial improvements to South Jersey’s community airports which have helped create opportunities for more businesses and more jobs. Today’s funding will complete projects at both Millville and Woodbine airports, ensuring safety in future operations and additional economic opportunities. I will continue to work closely with local officials and the FAA to bring additional federal resources to our region,” said LoBiondo.

Green, Executive Director of the Delaware River and Bay Authority. “Federal funding for infrastructure improvements is vital to the future growth and prosperity of a general aviation airport. These investments will also boost our ability to pursue economic development opportunities with City and County partners.”
The federal funding is awarded from the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program. Eligible projects include those improvements related to enhancing airport safety, capacity, security, and environmental concerns. Any professional services that are necessary for eligible projects — such as planning, surveying, and design — are eligible as is runway, taxiway, and apron pavement maintenance. Aviation demand at the airport must justify the projects, which must also meet federal environmental and procurement requirements.
