LoBiondo Announces Funds to County First Responders

By Herald Staff

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Frank A. LoBiondo (R-2nd) on Dec. 20 announced a total of $253,494.30 in federal funding for various law enforcement, fire, and first responder departments in South Jersey.
According to a release, those grants were awarded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, under the Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP). CEDAP provides smaller law enforcement and emergency responder agencies with equipment items that will enhance and support regional response, mutual aid, and interoperability of responder equipment.
“I am pleased our first responders and law enforcement personnel will have access to the newest technology available because of this federal program,” stated LoBiondo. “This new equipment will go a long way towards keeping both our communities and those protecting them safe.”
Included in the grant disbursements is $21,274.10 in federal funding to the Wildwood Fire Department for the purchase of the PEAC Incident command kit. The kit provides a turn-key solution by supporting the command post operation while concurrently supporting a survey team, an operations team, and a safety officer during an incident response.
“Frank LoBiondo’s ability to continue to service the Wildwood Fire Department in such a great manner is deeply appreciated,” stated Wildwood Mayor Ernest Troiano Jr. in the release.
Also included in the grant awards is $11,500 in federal funding for the Cape May City Police Department for the purchase of a Portable Video Surveillance System (XOA Series). XOA is an extremely versatile, portable, multi-use, manned or un-manned video surveillance system. It is capable of managing a variety of cameras (up to 4 simultaneous), including pan-tilt-zooms, long-range, day-night, analog and IP digital.
“Thanks to Congressman LoBiondo for all his efforts. This is certainly important equipment that we could use and we will put it to good use,” stated Cape May City Mayor Jerome Inderwises.
Other local CEDAP awards granted:
• $11,500 in federal funding to the Lower Township Police Department, to purchase a Portable Video Surveillance System (XOA Series).
• $11,500 in federal funding to the Middle Township Police Department, to purchase a Portable Video Surveillance System (XOA Series).
• $3,717 in federal funding to the Stone Harbor Police Department, to purchase the Rugged Night Vision Security Kit (F6015 AN/PVS-14 model).
• $3,717 in federal funding to the Ocean City Police Department, to purchase the Rugged Night Vision Security Kit (F6015 AN/PVS-14 model).
