Live Streaming Lacks Support

By Vince Conti

AVALON – In February, Avalon resident Martha Wright began video broadcasts of borough council meetings. After repeated attempts to interest council in video streaming of meetings, Wright took the task on as an individual, “I really don’t want to be doing this.” She admitted, preferring that council take the burden.
In May, Council President John McCorristin said he intended to put the issue on the agenda of a council work session for public discussion.
McCorristin admitted, June 13, that that was not going to happen. “I just don’t have the support,” he said.
When Wright polled council members, Nancy Hudanich, Charles Covington, and James Deever all were opposed to video of council meetings. Council member Richard Dean was absent.
