OCEAN CITY – Cape May County Freeholder E. Marie Hayes joined the Lieutenant Governor July 3, and visited two local businesses along Asbury Avenue that received “Stronger NJ Business” grants.
More than 630 businesses affected by Superstorm Sandy have been approved to receive grants and loans as part of the small business recovery initiative in the wake of Sandy.
Lieutenant Governor Guadagno visited Sun Rose Words and Music and Pacific Soul, two businesses along Asbury Avenue that sustained heavy damage during the storm. Both received $30,000 in grant funding in May and used the money to support reopening their businesses for the 2014 summer season.
Freeholder Hayes, an Ocean City resident, was pleased with the fact that Lieutenant Governor Guadagno took the time from her busy schedule to visit the area. “It is heartwarming to know that the Governor and Lt. Governor understand the importance of small businesses, especially in Cape May County where our economy is dependant on small businesses that generate more than $5.5 billion in expenditures and create nearly 25,000 jobs annually” said Hayes.
