TUCKAHOE– Construction crews were called to the bridge on Route 50 at mile post 6.8 to make “emergency repairs” to the bridge deck, Department of Transportation spokesman Joe Dee confirmed Tuesday night .
Dee said repairs started at 7:00 p.m. and were expected to be completed by midnight. Traffic is being alternated one lane at a time until the repairs are made.
A DOT foreman on the scene said the northbound lane has a five foot by five foot hole in the middle of the lane. According to the foreman the Tuckahoe river was visible when looking into the hole.
