Taronjanee Jones

By Erin Ledwon

CREST HAVEN – Freeholder E. Marie Hayes presented Taronjanee Jones with a $500 Investors Bank Scholarship from New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC) at the Aug. 27 freeholders’ meeting.
Jones, a student at Cape May County Technical High School, was accompanied by her mother, Terea Jones.
Prior to the presentation, Hayes, first vice president, NJAC, read remarks from one of Jones’ Technical School teachers.
“Taronjanee is deserving of this award, as she is one of the most outgoing, enthusiastic, and hard-working students I have had the pleasure of working with. She maintains a 3.48 GPA and participates extensively in her law and public safety career technical area here at the Cape May County Technical High School.
“She can often be found participating in the Key Club, where she donates her time and volunteers for the betterment of her community, peers, and class. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in justice studies, she would like to continue her studies and receive a Juris Doctorate degree in order to become a lawyer.”
“I won’t hold that against you,” said Hayes.
Jones, of Woodbine, plans to attend Montclair State University where she will major in justice studies.
“We wish you all the best,” said Hayes. “Very well deserved.”
