Inactive Liquor License Renewed

By Vince Conti

AVALON – For nearly a hundred years, the former concrete structure at 36th Street and Ocean Drive was an Avalon restaurant and bar. It has gone under the names of Gallagher’s Pub, Meaney’s, the Black Eagle and, most recently, Jack’s Place.
The bar and nightclub closed in 2017 and the structure was demolished in May 2019. The former Avalon watering hole had one last call on the Avalon Borough Council agenda June 12 when 21st Street Corporation had the liquor license renewed as an inactive license.
There was no word on any plans for the vacant lot.
