WILDWOOD — On Dec. 14, this city will have a new boss.
Following the governing body’s recent shift in departmental supervision which saw Mayor Gary DeMarzo wrest control of public safety from Commissioner Al Brannen, the commissioner struck back with a motion on Wed., Aug. 25 to have the mayor’s seat rotate as well to Commissioner Edward Harshaw.
DeMarzo said he would not support the plan.
Harshaw also rejected the plan citing his inability to devote sufficient time to the mayor’s office due to his teaching job.
“I wouldn’t be able to take the job until I retire,” he said.
But Harshaw did say he would support a plan that would make Brannen the mayor after DeMarzo had a full year in office. He made a motion to that effect setting the date of Dec. 14 when Brannen and Harshaw were sworn in following last year’s recall election.
When the amended motion was made, all three commissioners approved it.
