Housing Settlement Nears

Stone Harbor Logo

STONE HARBOR – The borough of Stone Harbor is considering a settlement agreement with the Fair Share Housing Center (FSHC). A settlement would end litigation regarding affordable housing obligation in the borough through 2025 if approved by the court. Recently Wildwood Crest announced a settlement on its affordable housing obligations and Avalon approved its settlement Nov. 21.
The settlements come as the FSHC has appeared to accept the land constraints and high land values on barrier islands leading the center to reduce its demands for low-to-moderate-income housing units in the island communities. Stone Harbor Borough Council will likely vote on the settlement at its first December meeting.
