CREST HAVEN – A self-contained hand-wash sink “for basic first aid” will be installed in the County Prosecutor’s HopeOne van for $2,124.
Performing the work will be First Priority Emergency Vehicles Inc.
Freeholders approved the resolution Aug. 14 for the 1997 Chevrolet diesel P-30 step van that once delivered produce to county employees.
The vehicle was recently repurposed by the County Prosecutor’s Office to serve as part of its community outreach program.
The van, which travels to various municipalities, is staffed by a county detective, licensed clinician, certified peer recovery specialist and (ARCH) nurse. Their purpose is to take addiction services to persons in need.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office website, “HopeOne will be able to provide clients immediate access to services and treatment facilities, putting them on the road to recovery and wellness prior to having contact with law enforcement and even avoiding overdose, which sadly too often results in death.
“In addition, training for Naloxone / Narcan will be administered on site by (ARCH) nurses employed by the South Jersey Aids Alliance and kits will be provided to family members and friends of those suffering with opioid addiction upon completion of this training.”
