Governor’s Visit Affords Crowd Chance to See, Quiz Chief Exec

By Herald Staff

ERMA — For the throng which attended Gov. Chris Christie’s Cape May County town hall meeting, Tue., April 12, the reward came from seeing the man who is firing up sentiments, good and bad, from public workers, police, fire, and teachers for his stance to cut the budget.
His reported 3 p.m. arrival did not happen on time. For those who attended the standing-room-only event at Naval Air Station Wildwood Hangar No. 1, the wait, the long trek from distant parking lots, and the road construction project near the airport were quickly forgotten when the Garden State’s chief executive arrived to address the crowd.
The visit was not Christie’s first to this county as governor. He had done that on several other occasions, as on on Sunday afternoon after a blizzard crippled the county. But it was his first as a national media darling, who has appeared on numerous television shows, and championed as the budget busting governor doing the work he was elected to do.
