Governor Christie Designates Sept. as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

By Press Release

TRENTON — Reaffirming the Christie Administration’s commitment to fighting childhood cancer, Governor Christie has declared Sept. as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in New Jersey.
“Throughout Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we will remember the young lives that were taken too soon and honor the survivors who face chronic health challenges,” said Governor Christie. “We will pay tribute to the healthcare professionals, researchers, private philanthropies and parent advocacy groups who work together to provide hope and help to patients and families affected by pediatric cancer.”
Each year, hundreds of children in New Jersey face the battle against cancer with inspiring hope and incredible bravery. Childhood cancer is one of the leading causes of death among children under nineteen, although with appropriate treatment survival rates for many childhood cancers have risen sharply over the past few decades.
