STONE HARBOR — Mayor Suzanne Walters announced the appointment of Jill Gougher as assistant administrator for the Borough of Stone Harbor at the Tue., Oct. 4 Borough Council meeting.
With over 30 years of municipal experience, according to a release, “Gougher brings a breadth of knowledge with her.”
Throughout her career Gougher has held numerous positions such as assistant treasurer, treasurer, tax collector, chief financial officer, purchasing agent, deputy manager and township manager.
Working for nearly 25 years for the Township of Galloway, Gougher served as the township manager/chief executive officer and chief financial officer simultaneously for six years. As such, Gougher was responsible for the day-to-day operations as well as personnel, budgets and purchasing.
A graduate of The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, Gougher has also obtained several certifications such as chief financial officer, qualified purchasing agent and tax collector through Rutgers University in con-junction with the State of New Jersey.
Gougher resides in Galloway Township with her husband Greg and two daughters Sarah and Rebecca.
While a resident, she has served on the executive board of the Galloway Township Ambulance Squad, coached girls softball and basketball in the local recreation leagues and taught Sunday school at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Egg Harbor City.
“We had over 50 applicants for the position and were thrilled to find someone of Jill’s caliber and experience. She is a perfect fit for Stone Harbor,” stated Walters.
For the next three months Gougher will have the opportunity of working closely with Borough Administrator Kenneth Hawk, who is slated to retire at the end of the year. Upon Hawks’ retirement Gougher will assume the role of administrator.
