AVALON – Avalon is set to begin the next phases of a project to replace decades-old metal gas mains with high-pressure mains that will improve resiliency and reduce nuisance leaks that tend to follow major storms.
The new phases of the project will lay 50,000 feet of gas mains along with connectors to adjacent homes. The project will largely be confined to the north end of the borough between 37th and Seventh streets.
The project will be completed before the start of the 2019 summer season with temporary patching placed in the streets. Final paving will occur in the fall. That final paving will run from the center of the road to the curb.
Homeowners will be notified and will have to work with the utility to ensure the proper installation of the lateral connections to their properties.
