COURT HOUSE – The Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders held their 2016 Reorganization meeting Jan. 6, with the swearing in of Freeholder Leonard C. Desiderio and County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti.
Fulginiti, was sworn in for her third term as County Clerk and serves as Cape May County’s 26th County Clerk. Fulginiti worked in county government in the Clerk’s office since 1985, and was first elected as County Clerk in 2005.
Desiderio, who will begin his sixth term in office, was reappointed to serve as Vice Director of the Board of Chosen Freeholders, and Freeholder Gerald M. Thornton was reappointed to serve as Director of the Board. Desiderio’s wife Carmela, daughter Carmela, and parents Carmel and Leonard Desiderio held the bible as he took his oath.
Administering the oath of office to both Desiderio and Fulginiti was newly appointed New Jersey Superior Court Judge Michael J. Donahue.
The Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard presented the colors and the Flag Salute was lead by Joe Harris, Past State Commander the members of VFW Post 1963.
Julia Mary Wilson, a 7th grade student at Ocean City Intermediate School sang the National Anthem and God Bless America. Invocation and Benediction was lead by Deacon Liam Conor O’Clisham of Sea Isle City.
