Freeholders Announce Student Government Day

COURT HOUSE – Cape May Court House – Freeholder M. Susan Sheppard today announced that eighteen students representing nine Cape May County High Schools will join Cape May County Freeholders in conducting the Freeholders’ meeting as part of the annual Student Government Day on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. 
The day will begin for the students at noon with lunch at the Cape May County Special Services School District’s Back Porch Café hosted by Sheppard, Education Freeholder.  The students will hear from Cape May County Freeholder Director Daniel Beyel and other elected officials who will explain the role of county government. 
After lunch, the students will tour the Public Safety Building, see a demonstration by the Cape May County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit and tour the County Clerk’s office.  At 3 p.m. students will visit with representatives from county departments at an “Open House” in the lobby of the County Administration Building.  Additionally, the students will preside over the 4 p.m. caucus meeting and the 4:30 p.m. regular meeting of the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
