Freeholders Actions: OK Triathlon over Co. Bridges

By Al Campbell

CREST HAVEN – Among resolutions passed by freeholders July 22 was one indemnifying the county Bridge Commission and the county for “Tri the Wildwoods” Triathlon Aug. 16.
DelMoSports, Inc. is sponsoring the triathlon and 5K event, and participants will use some county roads and Ocean Drive bridges. Because of that, an agreement had to be reached to allow use of the facilities.
In other action the board:
* Increased by $6,800 the agreement with Adams, Rehmann, Heggan and Associates, Inc. for the county correctional facility expansion and upgrades permitting. “It was found necessary to increase the original scope of work due to soils and groundwater analysis for stormwater management design of the project,” the resolution stated.
* Accepted a $13,000 grant from the state Department of Military and Veterans Affairs for veteran transportation from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015.
* Granted permission for Wildwood Water Utility to install observation wells for salt water intrusion on county land and county road right-of-way for monitoring wells in Lower and Middle township. One well is proposed at County Park South in Del Haven, and Fishing Creek Pump Station at the end of Norbury Landing Road. They have some wells, but DEP wants different wells and elevations. This gives permission to put in the wells and take samples,” said County Engineer Dale Foster.
* Prepared to advertise for bids on the County Library’s main branch, Mechanic Street, Court House for additions and alterations. Bids will be accepted at 2 p.m. Aug. 19. Among items to be repaired, the roof, front steps, and columns.
