Freeholder Actions: Open Space Grants Awarded

CREST HAVEN – Freeholders appointed two members to the Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Abuse (MHADA) Board at the Sept. 23 meeting. Frank Garcia and Deborah Lukens will serve three-year terms until June 30, 2017. Members of the board service as volunteers and serve without compensation, according to the appointing resolution.
The board meets the last Monday of each month, 5 p.m., at various locations. No meetings are held in April, July or December.
Open Space Grant Awards
Naval Air Station Wildwood Foundation received an $85,991 Historic Preservation Trust Fund grant for part of its Hangar No. 1 stabilization and rehabilitation project. The NASW Aviation Museum is listed on the state and national Register of Historic Places, and its place conforms with guidelines for the county program.
Proposed work, according to a July project presentation, will include roof rehabilitation, main entry doors rehabilitation and window replacement.
Historic Cold Spring Village Foundation will receive a $15,495 grant under the same program, for a multi-phase project for Cold Spring Grange Hall No. 132 in the Village that will include exterior stabilization, interior flooring rehabilitation and well restoration. The entire project is estimated at $30,990 with the foundation paying $15,495 toward the cost. That building is listed on the state and national Register of Historic Places.
In other action the board:
• Authorized a change order (No. 3) in the amount of $2,238 with Aliano Brothers General Contractors, Inc. for Wildwood Crest branch library renovations.
• Awarded competitive contract to AmeriHealth Administrators Inc. to provide third-party administrator services for health benefit plan for employees, retirees and dependents of Cape May County and the county Board of Social Services for one year with two, one-year renewal options.
• Approved third-party service agreement with Jennifer Kelly for provision of psychological evaluation services on an as-needed basis not to exceed $10,000. The agreement extends from Oct. 22 through Oct. 21, 2015.
• Approved a statement attesting to the Aug. 25 loss of the Mosquito Control Department’s 1983 Heller UH12e helicopter that crashed in Court House. The aircraft was valued at $85,000, with a $5,000 deductible, making the loss $80,000 covered by Federal Insurance Co.
