WILDWOOD – The county’s annual Healthcare Resource Day will take place today (April 9) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wildwoods Convention Center. The public is invited to this free, community event, sponsored by the Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Cape May County Health Department.
The event is a unique, once a year opportunity to visit with more than forty local healthcare organizations that provide a wide variety of services and products in Cape May County such as medical care, home care, recovery services, wellness services, children’s programs, support groups, rehabilitation centers and elder care.
The day features a presentation by Dr. Christopher G. Zitnay, certified board endocrinologist at Cape Physicians Associates.
Zitnay will speak on “Recent Developments in Diabetes Self-Management”. Additionally, there will be free screenings for cholesterol, blood sugar, circulatory health, blood pressure and fracture risk courtesy of Cape Regional Medical Center’s Parish Nurse Program plus giveaways from exhibitors.
Freeholder Gerald Thornton, liaison to health and human services, stated in a release, “Most importantly, the public will have an opportunity to learn about the wide range of services offered by the Cape May County Health Department – many free or at low cost, such as, child health services, children’s clinics, family planning services and a comprehensive physical therapy department.
