Four Projects Win Open Space OK

CREST HAVEN – Four Open Space funded projects totaling over $706,000 had shared service agreements approved by freeholders Oct. 11.
They include: 
* A “pocket park” at the main branch of Cape May County Library on Mechanic Street, Court House, $180,000.
* Lake Lily Park improvements in Cape May Point, $426,800.
* Restoration of a 36-foot Coast Guard wooden lifeboat undertaken by Cape May Maritime Museum and Education Center, Inc., $74,315.
* Exterior restoration of American Legion Stephen Ludlam Post 331 (Stone Harbor) for front steps, windows, porch, decking and sign at Tatham Life Saving Station, $25,266.
All projects were previously outlined in detail by Planning Director Leslie Gimeno. Money is not disbursed until projects are completed with proof made to the county.
In other action the board:
Congratulated Mary Elizabeth Libro as county Teacher of the Year. She is a third-grade teacher at Ocean City Primary School.
Awarded to Mid-Atlantic Salt LLC of Narberth, Pa. an open-end contract to deliver rock salt to the county and municipalities participating in the cooperative purchasing venture for $64.75 per ton. A second award was made to Chemical Equipment Labs, Delaware, Inc. for $65.75 per ton, in the event the primary bidder cannot meet demand.
Awarded open-end contract to Balford Farms of Burlington to furnish and deliver dairy products to Crest Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and participating cooperative agencies, including school districts. Balford’s was the lower of two bids received Sept. 28.
Accepted proposal of Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. of Lebanon for engineering work on abutment repairs to Ocean Drive (CR 619) Great Channel Bridge and Grassy Sound Bridge for $41,440.
Accepted the proposal of Maser Consulting OA for $724,010 for construction engineering services on the Roosevelt Boulevard Bridge over Crook Horn Creek deck rehabilitation. The bridge links Ocean City and Upper Township.
Rejected all bids for construction for a new primate exhibit at the county Zoo, since all bids exceeded the original budget.
