Four Charged with Aggravated Assault after Motel Fight in Burleigh

BURLEIGH– On Sunday, November 15, 2009, at 1241 am, Middle Township Police were dispatched to the Wildwood Park Motel, located at 405 Route 147 in the Burleigh section of Middle Township for the report of a fight in progress.
Patrol units found the victim Demetrius Wooten 21 of Rio Grande unconscious at the scene and he was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by Middle Township Rescue.
Through our investigation four subjects were arrested and charged with aggravated assault: Jason Popplewell 24 of Cape May Court House, Norman Price 24 of Woodbine, Asaad Price 18 of Woodbine and Lorenzo Smith 27 of Woodbine.
All four subjects were placed in the Cape May County Jail in lieu of $50,000.00 cash bail.
This case is currently under investigation and further charges may be coming.
Middle Township Police received mutual aid from the Wildwood, North Wildwood and Lower Township Police Departments due to the large number of subjects gathered at the scene.
This case is being investigated by the Middle Township Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit.
