COURT HOUSE – Middle Township’s Superintendent of Public Works Robert Flynn was given tenure when the township committee adopted an ordinance at its Aug. 20 meeting. An employee with tenure no longer serves at the discretion of the governing body. A tenured employee may only be removed for cause through a process that includes written charges and a public hearing. Tenure does not entitle the holder to special compensation.

Each of the three committee members cited Flynn’s strong work ethic and long hours at the job. Committee member Timothy Donohue credited Flynn with turning around a department that was in need of new leadership when Flynn took the position five years ago.
