COURT HOUSE — FEMA is offering a review of flood insurance claims that were filed as a result of Superstorm Sandy. Freeholder Director Gerald M. Thornton and OEM Director, Martin Paliughi, are encouraging all Cape May County property owners who filed a claim for damage through the National Flood Insurance Program to contact FEMA and request a review of their claim.
Thornton explained, “There have been concerns from many who have filed a claim for damages from Sandy, and FEMA wants to ensure that all policy holders who filed a claim are paid what they are owed under their policy. If anyone who filed feels they would benefit from a review, they should call FEMA toll-free at 866-337-4262, before the September 15, 2015 deadline.”
The process can be done by phone or a request form can be downloaded from the FEMA website. To download the form, go to www.fema.gov/sandyclaims
Once the form is completed, it can be faxed to 202-646-7970 or emailed to FEMA at fema-sandyclaimsreview@fema.dhs.gov
If you call, a call center representative will ask you some questions to verify that you qualify for a review of your claim. Callers are instructed to have the following information ready:
• The name on the policy
• The address of the damaged property
• The policy number
