PETERSBURG – Upper Township’s financial officer, Barbara Spiegel, reported to the committee at its Nov. 5 meeting that the municipality’s fire companies are in great shape per a recent assessment report. Mentioning a few highlights, Spiegel said, “Strathmere carries no debt and has recruited two new volunteers. Tuckahoe is applying its surplus to next year’s budget and has a retention program for volunteers. In Marmora, all checks are signed by two commissioners, and in Seaville they initiated an aggressive recruitment outreach that brought 10 new volunteers to their company. All comply with state requirements for budgets.”
