PETERSBURG – At Upper Township Committee’s Dec. 4 meeting, Business Administrator Scott Morgan reported that he had a preliminary discussion with the Seaville fire chief who is seeking township assistance for a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant to purchase self-contained breathing apparatuses. Morgan said normally municipalities apply for those types of grants, not individual fire departments. Committee asked Morgan as to whether any new unbudgeted cost would accrue to the township because of this procurement. Morgan said he would be meeting again with the fire chief to finalize whether the municipality would assist in the application process. Four other fire departments in Cape May County are applying for the same equipment which will help interoperability.
