By Camille Sailer

PETERSBURG – It was reported at the Upper Township Committee meeting Feb. 24 that plans are moving forward to allow the first farmers market in years. The zoning board approved the site plan Feb. 20, for the operation of a farmers market on Misty Meadow sheep’s milk creamery, Petersburg-Dennisville Road.
During the meeting, committee members indicated to owner Bill Simmerman that they support his plan to host a weekly farmers market on his property, as long as it does not incur a cost to the township.
The committee asked that Simmerman provide a letter indicating what support he is requesting from the township. Simmerman indicated he is only requesting public relations support from the township. No date was given for the market to begin operation.
